Ever since I could hold a pencil, I have had a special place in my heart for art. My earliest artistic memories include me drawing mermaids in swimming pools with my mom and making up specific stories for each mermaid. Needless to say, I had an overly active imagination as a child.
Because of this early outlet, I have always pieced art with storytelling. I feel that each work that I see has some kind of history behind it. While I am making a piece, I try to incorporate a story into the art. With a story intertwined within an artwork, it becomes more interesting to the viewer to interpret.
I usually gravitate toward oils and other paints because I love to blend colors and shapes, so my work tends to be more abstract. If my work is not abstract, it would most likely be a portrait. Every face has a story, and this concept is what I am most inspired by when I paint one.
